Ava is Riding a Bike!!

She did it tonight!!!  She rode her bike on her own without training wheels!  This has been a long time coming for Ava.  As parents we didn't push her to ride a bike early on; she loved riding her scooter so we didn't push riding a bike until she was bigger than what size would have been easier for her to learn.  One of the goals for this summer was for both girls to be able to ride their bikes without training wheels.  With moving we still didn't get much practice this summer; but we have been determined to get this accomplished.

Tonight we kept repeating together, "I can do this...I can ride my bike!!"  As both girls have been very scared of falling and therefore not wanting mom and dad to let go.  The positive energy definitely helped!!

Ella is so close too!   We'll have it with a little more confidence and a little more practice.

So proud of these girls!!  BIG day...first day of school and a couple of bike riders!

First Day of School 2018

First Day of School homework...all about Ava

They're ready to take on the day!

After first day picture...Ava was too cool to give me a thumbs up but both girls said their day was GREAT!!!

Back to School Night

Summer has quickly come to an end.  We've definitely taken advantage of every minute possible of our summer but just like that it's time to go back to school.  The girls; really all of us; have been nervous going into the new year in a new school.  We loved Fullerton and our friends we met there.  So we've all been optimistic about our new school as we continue to hear great things from the community about it but also feeling like this school has big shoes to fill!!

We've all struggled some with the move but Ava has had the hardest time with the move and transition into Olathe.  We've all been nervous of the unknown and missing friends back in Omaha.  But Ava is our <more> emotional girl who tends to blow things up bigger than they really are...hummm, don't know where she gets that?  LOL, directly from her mama!!

So Monday was Back to School/Meet the Teacher Night.  It went so well!!  The girls both got to meet their teachers, find their desks, check out their new classroom, settle their supplies, and explore the school.  Both girls (and us parents) feel so much better afterwards.  Bring on the school year!!

Not too sure yet...

...oh but she gave me snacks!!  ;)

Table Rock Lake

Another fun and relaxing trip to Table Rock is in the books.  I seriously could spend every day at the lake!!  We were lucky enough to spend the week with my parents and brother and his wife.  Matt unfortunately only got to spend the first weekend with us and then had to come back for work.  We missed him but still had a great time!  Lots of swimming, kneeboarding, skiing, paddle boarding, kayaking, drinking coffee on the porch, reading, playing, and watching movies.  Ava has loved the lake for several years but we didn't know if Ella was going to get there but this year she showed us!  She swam more than any of us!  Every time she got a second she'd ask to go swimming and every time we got back from being on the boat she'd want to swim off the dock another 30-60 minutes.  We now have a family of fish!  I love that they love the lake as much as their mama.

This year we also spent a day at Silver Dollar City.  So Much FUN!!  I haven't been in years but we felt like the girls would be ready for it this year.  We started in the kids ride area and they rode their first roller coaster, spinning tea cups, and flying Dumbo.  Then we headed over to the bigger rides.  I made every ride Fire In the Hole which my girls informed me was "their worst nightmare come true" :))) . Goofballs!  But Ava's favorite ride was American Plunge and Ella's was the Flooded Mine.
